A modern practical Space for the skilled workers of the future
When building the new VMBO/MBO technical school at Gilde Vakcollege Techniek, one question was central: how do we create a learning environment that truly connects to practice? An environment where students can work safely and efficiently, and where they are optimally prepared for their future profession.
Five years of building a new future
For five years, this project was under development, and earlier this year, it finally became a reality. For a school with a strong focus on technology, a well-equipped practical space is essential. It’s the place where students develop their skills, explore various techniques, and are gradually prepared for the job market.
Realizing this practical space was an intensive process involving multiple parties. From extraction systems and electrical installations to the setup of workstations, everything had to be carefully coordinated. Feedback was gathered from both teachers and the business community to create a space that not only meets current standards but is also future-proof. Employers indicated that graduates benefit most from a learning environment that closely mirrors the practical world. This meant extra attention was needed for the design and functionality of the practical spaces.
From idea to reality
A key component of the practical space is the welding booths. In the search for the best solution, inspiration was drawn from other schools and workplaces as well as a good contact of the school. Again and again, we returned to Cepro solutions. These booths provide a safe, soundproof working environment and can be flexibly arranged, which is essential for a dynamic learning environment. Furthermore, they are durable and easy to maintain, contributing to long-term and efficient use.
In addition to choosing the right materials and installations, the execution played a significant role. The installation of the workstations and booths was smooth and structured, contributing to the overall efficiency of the construction process. Thanks to collaboration with various specialists, such as electricians, welding experts, and construction technicians, the space was perfectly tailored to the needs of students and teachers.
Proud of the result
The end result is something to be proud of. “What stands now is something we can all be proud of. Not just the booths, but the entire practical space is designed in a way that truly contributes to the quality of our education,” says Hans, a teacher at Gilde College. Positive feedback has also come from the business community and students themselves. The new practical space gives them the opportunity to work professionally with the equipment and techniques they will encounter in their careers.
Moreover, this practical space allows for new developments in technology to be included in the curriculum. Technologies such as automated welding and modern production methods can be easily integrated, giving students a competitive edge in the job market. This keeps education up-to-date and ensures graduates’ skills align better with employers’ expectations.
With these new practical spaces, Gilde Vakcollege Techniek takes an important step in technical education. This allows us to optimally guide the skilled workers of the future and provide them with a solid foundation for their future careers.
