For flexible welding screening in the workshop

Flexible welding screening is in the spotlight. Foreign manufacturers are bringing systems to the market that look technically imposing, but cost four to five times as much as Cepro's cable reel. They do the same thing: temporarily screening off the workplace during welding. Our cable reel has been doing that for more than twenty years. Reliable, certified and proven in construction workshops, maintenance departments and welding workshops throughout Europe. The most economical alternative for anyone looking for flexible welding screening that truly works.

How does the cable reel work?

The name says enough in itself. A powerful spring in a red metal housing keeps a steel cable under constant tension. On that cable hang welding curtains 160 cm high. The curtains slide as a whole along a metal rod, so that the screen moves as a single unit.

Pull the cable to the fixed point on the other side, and the screen is up straight away. In the twist of a hand, you put the protection into use; let go, and the cable reel rolls back automatically. The spring that takes care of that is the trick of the trade: thanks to this balanced system, the cable rolls up easily and smoothly, time after time. Via a hinge on the housing, you fold the system out of the way when a structure or column is in the path. No motor, power or complex installation is involved.

When the cable is fully extended, there is a certified screen against welding light, spatter and sparks. The curtains are made of flame-retardant PVC and comply with the European safety standard ISO EN 25980.

When is a cable reel the right choice?

Many companies arrive at flexible welding screening because they are convinced that an ever-present, permanent structure does not suit their way of working. And that is correct. A construction workshop where workpieces and parts are continuously brought in by crane or forklift truck does not need a fixed wall. That only gets in the way.

What you need is a system that offers safety at the moment welding takes place and gives space as soon as it no longer does. In the twist of a hand, the cable reel is in use, and vice versa, so that people and machines can easily move through the resulting opening. Two concrete situations in which this proves its worth daily:

  • A construction workshop where parts are brought in by crane or forklift truck. When the screen is in use, there is certified protection. As soon as the part or element needs to pass through, the passage is clear in a single movement;

  • A maintenance department of a large company where welding is not done daily. The screen is deployed only at the moment it is necessary; for the rest, it does not get in the way in any manner.

The cable reel is available with a cable of 8 metres or 11 metres, so that it is usable for all kinds of customers and workplace situations. Anyone who also wants to be able to physically move the screen will find a good alternative in Cepro's welding screens.

Not sure which system suits your workplace? We are happy to think along with you.

Cable reel versus expensive premium systems: what suits your situation?

Foreign manufacturers promote retractable welding screens that look impressive. And they are technically good too. But the essence is that they do the same as our cable reel: flexibly screen off a workplace during welding. The question is whether the purchase value justifies the cost price, especially when you need several for your situation.

A Cepro cable reel costs roughly a quarter of the price of comparable foreign systems, with the same effect in terms of flexibility. Do you need three, four or five of such expensive systems for a single workplace? Then that cost difference quickly mounts up to an investment that is difficult to justify.

On top of that come two practical points. Firstly: foreign manufacturers have limited European stock. Delivery times can mount up, especially with larger orders. Secondly: when a curtain gets damaged, a replacement curtain is not always immediately available. Every time you have to invest again in a completely new system, that counts as a high unexpected expense.

With Cepro, you simply order a replacement curtain or spare part through your dealer. Quickly, without detours and at a fraction of what a new system costs. That way, you are not only cheaper off at purchase; in the long term too, you remain considerably more economical. Would you like to work out the costs for your situation concretely?

Installation, made-to-measure work and full peace of mind

For the basic installation, the cable reel needs two fixed points: one for the base component and one for the end of the cable. The wall mount and special bracket are included as standard. If no suitable fixed surfaces are available, Cepro supplies uprights as part of a complete workplace solution. This way, there is always a workable situation.

For those who need a fully custom-built system, Cepro thinks further along with you. In earlier made-to-measure projects, columns have also been realised that are sunk into the floor and can be easily removed when the welding screen is not in use. The passage stays clear; the safety zone is back within a few seconds.

When it becomes a full project with special curtains, uprights and installation, the technical fitters arrange everything from start to finish through Cepro's installation service. Both the dealer and the end customer do not have to worry about anything; all the links after Cepro are taken care of.

Quickly available, replacement always on hand

The cable reel is part of Cepro's range of special suspensions and, as an individual item, is always in stock in large quantities. After ordering, it is supplied very quickly. Is it a complete project with special curtains, uprights or made-to-measure adjustments? Then count on a production time of a maximum of four to five weeks. Even then, you have the solution you have chosen for your workshop available quickly.

Cepro has been developing and producing welding safety products itself for more than 30 years and supplies through a network of authorised dealers in more than 50 countries. That network does not only stand for quick delivery at purchase; it also stands for replacement parts and advice in the years afterwards.

A cable reel keeps welding curtains tensioned via a spring cable and retracts them automatically when the screen is not needed. You deploy it at workplaces where the screen regularly has to be taken away temporarily, such as with crane traffic or occasional welding jobs. As soon as welding begins, the full certified protection is back in place with a single action.

This fits in any environment where temporariness and flexibility are central: construction workshops with crane traffic, maintenance departments of large companies and welding workshops at technical services that share space with other business processes. Common feature: the workplace needs a safety zone that can also be taken away quickly.

The cable reel works with welding curtains 160 cm high, made of flame-retardant PVC that complies with ISO EN 25980. The curtains slide as a whole along a metal rod and are easy to replace through the Cepro dealer.

A cable reel costs roughly a quarter of the price of comparable foreign retractable welding screens, with the same effect in terms of flexibility. That advantage counts more heavily if you need several units for a single workplace. Replacement curtains are immediately available through the Cepro dealer, which keeps both the purchase price and the lifetime costs low.

At Cepro, as an individual item they are always in stock in large quantities and are supplied very quickly through your dealer. For a complete project with special curtains, uprights or made-to-measure work, the production time is a maximum of four to five weeks.
